Honour...
They speak about Honour. They worship the idea of Honour.
It is chanted to us the minute we are born. We are programmed to act in accordance to society. Shame has no place in this community. An ounce of shame is enough to be subjected to humiliation and the destruction of reputation, South Asia's worst nightmare.
Now tell me, how can they speak about honour when they tarnish the honour of their off springs through stripping them from their rights.
How can they speak about honour when their offspring are made to endure a life of pain, to cater to the need of others.
How can they speak about honour when they coerce their off springs into serving strangers who they feel nothing for. Trapped in a loveless marriage and waking up to a feeling of dread each and every day.
This toxic idea of honour has destroyed the lives of many.
Simply because what other people think holds more importance.
