Love

Love is a word which can be interpreted in various ways. And it can also be misinterpreted. Love comes in different forms and exists in many type of relationships. There is love in family relations, there is love in friendship, there is love with a partner, there is love of materialistic possessions, there is love of this Dunya and more importantly, there is love in God. In most cases, the word love is associated with love regarding a partner. However, in this case, the word love has lost its meaning. It has been mistaken for lust, for infatuation. We develop temporary feelings and call it love. We seek to find this form of love within the Dunya. As humans we crave love, it’s a part of our nature. The issue begins when we indulge ourselves in this idea of love. We weigh love of this world and its inhabitants above everything. Ultimately this leads to our downfall. We fall in love with illusions. We get our heart broken. And sometimes we forget that it is also a test. As a result, we begin to believe that love does not exist. We believe that love is not for us. Love exists. We are worthy of love. Our self-concept is what makes us accept the wrong type of love. It is through love of Dunya that we find the love for God. When we get our heart broken, we turn to God. We seek comfort in our prayers to Him, in hopes of finding a sense of inner peace. We begin to attain closeness to Him thus enabling us to develop our love for Him. Allah’s love for His creation is unconditional, this is where true love lies, in Him. We place love of Dunya, its inhabitants and its materialism in our hearts. We place love of God outside of our hearts. It should in fact be the opposite. It is through the love of God that you will find the right love. Not just in a partner, but in other relations such as family and friends. A love filled by Allah’s blessing will make its way to you in the most beautiful of ways.
